Welcome International Pride Month

June is a busy month as we ramp up preparation for Lone Star HOPE Volleyball SummerFest 2026, but that won’t stop us from carving out a moment for Pride!

This month recognized around the world celebrates all peoples under the vast umbrella of LGBTQIA2S+ identities.

From its inception, H.O.P.E. has been an organization that welcomed both staff and volunteers of all genders and sexualities without question;in fact, the very person writing this blog post is nonbinary! Charities prioritizing the support of our local queer communities, for youth and adults, have certainly seen support through HOPE Volleyball’s extensive history of giving (to read more about how charities are chosen each year, click here).

We’ve also been lucky to share mutual support with Pride Capital Volleyball!

Overall, it’s good to be grateful for Canada’s mostly-progressive policies and the increasing acceptance among the general public for the spectrum of how people present themselves. We hope all our friends in the LGBTQIA2S+ community have a fantastic pride month.

PS. In case you were wondering where the gallery of colourful pictures is, here in Ottawa, our big Pride celebration with the parade and everything is at the end of August, so you’ll have to stay tuned for that!
