Thornley, 54-40, and Loudlove to Headline at HOPE

Canadian acts Thornley, 54-40, and Loudlove to headline at HOPE Volleyball SummerFest July 12th at Mooney's Bay Beach in the Rogers Amphitheatre.

For the second year, the HOPE planning committee is taking advantage of the existing hillside available in SummerFest's traditional home at Mooney's Bay providing a natural amphitheatre accompanied by a superior stage and soundscape.

When it's your name on the marquee, you want everything about it to be right. For Toronto's Ian Thornley, now it is. Since branching off from his first band Big Wreck, and starting Thornley, it's taken a couple of years for the singer-songwriter to solidify the perfect line up.

Now, after touring and writing together, Ian, guitarist Tavis Stanley, bassist Cale Gontier and drummer Eric Paul are in the studio working on the follow-up to 2004's gold-selling debut, Come Again.

In 2005, 54-40 returned to the Canadian pop music landscape with a new member, a new label and a brand new album - Yes to Everything. Collectively these developments represent a reminder that this enduring quartet remains one of Canada's preeminent ambassadors of modern rock.

In a world where many bands go to great lengths to describe their "sound", Loudlove chooses to simply "invite you to listen to our music and make up your own mind as to what we are. We have been described as powerful, honest and genuine. Loudlove is a band with rock, reggae, blues and many other influences but all of that should be ignored. We would rather see the smiles and the sweat pouring off you as you dance to our music and enjoy the atmosphere at a Loudlove show".

The headliners play to a crowd already warmed up by three top notch local acts each fresh from winning the LiVE 88.5 Big Money Shot competition: The Prefect, A Plot Against Me, and Sojourn.

Concert tickets on sale Friday, May 9th at 10 a.m. through Capital Tickets www.capitaltickets.ca or 613.599.3267. Concert tickets are $15 in advance, but as always, are included with event registration.
